Brian Johnston
President
Canada Division
Brian Johnston joined the Monarch Corporation in 1984. He was later appointed President
of the division in 2000.
A graduate of The University of Toronto, Brian earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
In addition to his Monarch responsibilities, Brian was appointed a Director of Tarion
Warranty Corporation. Tarion’s mandate is to license and regulate homebuilders,
and to provide warranty and deposit insurance for Ontario homebuyers.
Brian resides in the city of Toronto with his wife, Colleen and two children, Emily
and Katharine. His interests include jogging, hiking, and boating.

David George

Corporate & Legal
As a member of executive management, David A. George’s areas of responsibility include
legal and administrative matters relating to land acquisition, land development,
single family home community and high-rise condominium project launches, construction
finance, closings and property dispositions. Mr. George is a graduate of Osgoode
Hall Law School and has served on various committees for the Urban Development Institute
and the Greater Toronto Home Builders’ Association with respect to standardized
industry contracts, municipal law and condominium law in Ontario.

Brad Carr
Senior Vice-President
Low-rise
Brad joined Monarch in August 2001, and was appointed to his current position in
March 2003. Brad’s earned a Bachelor of Technology, Architectural Science degree
at Ryerson University. He lives with his wife Susan and their young children Daniel
and Hannah in West Montrose, Ontario, a small town between Guelph and Waterloo.
Brad’s favourite pastimes include waterskiing/wakeboarding, golfing and spending
time with his kids.

Emilio Tesolin
Senior Vice-President
High-rise
Emilio joined Monarch in October 1997 and was appointed Senior Vice President, High-rise
in 2005. Emilio has been involved in both low-rise and high-rise construction for
the last 20 years. He completed his Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science Degree
in Civil Engineering from the University in 1983. Emilio’s hobbies include cycling,
hockey, skiing and golf.

Lynn Whelan

Finance/Treasurer/Controller
Lynn Whelan joined Monarch in 1987. She was appointed Vice President Finance in
1997.
Lynn completed an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Windsor
and is a Chartered Accountant.

Elizabeth Sawicki
Vice-President
Planning & Development
Elizabeth (Liz) Sawicki holds the position of Vice-President, Land
Planning and Development. The Land Department is responsible for the
development of Monarch’s land bank and the servicing of land to
facilitate Monarch’s high-rise and low-rise businesses. Liz joined
Monarch in November of 2003 as Vice-President in the Land Department
bringing with her over 18 years of experience in the residential,
commercial, industrial, institutional land development industry. Liz
holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies with Honors in Urban and
Regional Planning from the University of Waterloo. Liz, her husband and
children reside in Toronto.

Bernie Torchia

High-rise Construction
Bernie has 20+ years of leadership roles in the home building industry, and joined Monarch in 2010.
He has also served on the board of various organizations (BILD, Rescon, Enerquality) in our industry.
He is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a BA in Urban Geography.

Frank Garcea
Vice-President
Low-rise Construction
Frank started with Monarch in 1984. He brings a strong sense of teamwork and strong
residential construction knowledge gained through the many years of experience both
on site and through various construction management roles within the Company. He
was appointed Vice-President of Low-rise Construction in September 2005.
Frank completed a Bachelor of Architectural Science degree, majoring in Project
Management, at Ryerson University in Toronto.
Frank lives in Unionville, north of Toronto, with his wife Karen and their two children,
Francesca and Adrian. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family
as well as playing hockey and renovating.

Joyce Lee McKay
Vice-President
High-rise Administration
Joyce is both an accredited Lawyer and Chartered Accountant. She holds a Bachelor
of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor or Laws from the University
of Windsor. She was promoted in 2003 from Associate In-House Legal Counsel to her
current position where she is responsible for financial and operational administration
of the High-rise Division. Joyce also sits on several boards of directors and consults
to committees advising on condominium law in Ontario. Joyce is an avid golfer, curler
and an accomplished musician.

Paul Sandusky
Vice-President
Low-rise Administration
Paul joined Monarch in 1998 after a distinguished career at Sandbury Homes. Paul has been
involved in the homebuilding industry for 34 years and is a former director of Tarion
Warranty Corporation (formerly Ontario New Home Warranty program).
Paul is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University and is a Chartered Accountant. Paul
resides in the Town of Markham.
